Performance > Coming Out Of The Cave

Performed at the opening of group show "Xanadu" at Pasadena City College January 11, 2024, the artist humorously enacts an allegory of returning from the pandemic, creeping back into society and life as it was.

This performance takes cues from the golden era of Looney Tunes, 1970s-80s video pioneers such as Martha Rosler and Bruce Nauman, performances of Mike Kelley and Simone Forti, and Judson Dance Theater era movement of Yvonne Rainer. The performance uses handmade sculptural props to improvise ritual, dancing, defending against potential attacks, quiet contemplation and finally joining the group.
